Adjustable Solid Oak Desk on a Budget (Night & Day)
I've been wanting an adjustable desk for a long time. What really bothered me, though, was that most adjustable desks have T-shaped legs, making them wobbly when fully extended. So, it had to be a desk with four legs for the sake of stability. Plus, I didn't want a cheap particle board but real solid wood. I found a reasonably priced solid oak tabletop at a German hardware store for around €100 (160 x 80 x 2.6 cm). While it's only second-rate wood and thus has some small flaws, I picked one with an almost perfect front. After sanding and oiling, voilà. I'm really happy with how it turned out. The headset stand and PC case had to match the color of the desk's wood too, of course :P The drawer unit is the Micke from Ikea. There's a bracket attached to its back that holds the drag chain between the desk and Micke, so there's no strain on the cables and ports on the PC when raising and lowering the desk. However, I'm not quite sure how to hide the cables on the back of the PC yet. Currently, they're visible and, in my opinion, detract a bit from the clean look of the setup. So, if you have any ideas, feel free to share :D
